Message from Ms. Nahal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! I hope you had a fun-filled summer with time to relax and enjoy family and friends.
This newsletter includes key information to help you prepare for the first week of school. Planning is well underway, and we are excited to welcome you and your child to Irene Kelleher Totí:ltawtxw.
First Day of School – Tuesday, September 2, 2025
•This will be a half day for students.
•Dismissal is at 12:15 PM.
•Students do not need to bring school supplies on the first day. Teachers will communicate when and what supplies to bring.
•Please send your child with a snack for recess. No lunch is needed.
First Week & Class Placement
•Students will begin the week in grade groupings (e.g., all Grade 1s together, all Grade 2s together, etc.) with the grade specific teachers together as well.
•Students will line up in the following areas, as per grade group for drop off and dismissal.
•Gr. 1 – Door # 114
•Gr. 2 – Door # 118
•Gr. 3 – Door # 116
•Gr. 4 – Line up outside Door # 126
•Gr. 5 – Line up outside at East end of school exterior doors
•Kindergarten – Door # 148
•Throughout the week, teachers will observe students and begin forming class groupings.
•Classroom placement is a thoughtful process that considers academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs.
•Please help prepare your child by explaining that they may not be placed with all their friends and encourage them to make new connections.
•By the end of the week, students will be informed of their teacher and classroom.
•Wednesday, September 3rd to Friday, September 5th the school will be full days from 9:15 AM to 3:15 PM.
•Kindergarten families should follow the gradual entry schedule emailed prior to summer. If you have not received it, please contact the office.
Closed Campus Reminder
All Abbotsford schools are closed campuses. Visitors must enter through the front doors and check in at the office. These protocols are in place to ensure the safety of all students.
Eagle’s Nest Childcare – please use designated exterior doors
Pick-Up & Drop-Off Loop
•The loop in front of the school is for quick drop-offs and pick-ups only.
•Drivers must remain in their vehicles.
•Please practice with your child how to safely and quickly enter/exit the vehicle.
•If your child needs assistance, consider parking and walking them to their designated area.
Communication with families
•A school-wide message will be sent home with important updates and/or events, rather than a monthly newsletter.
•I will work closely with our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) to share information through their social media platforms.
•For the most up-to-date information, please visit our school website regularly: https://irenekelleher.abbyschools.ca/
If you have any questions, feel free to contact the office. We’re looking forward to a wonderful start to the school year!
